NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME
Motto of NSS
Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s Centenary year in 1969. Aimed at developing student’s personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community linkage.
The purpose of establishing this National Service Scheme in our college campus is to create strong social awareness among the students, imparts personality development to its members through study & work in the camps. There are four units (3 Units for Male Students and 1 for Female Students) of NSS are actively functioning in the college campus. The strength of each unit is 100. Our faculty members Dr. V. Kalpana Devi (Unit – I), Dr. S. Balamurugan (Unit –II), Prof. D. Ramalingam (Unit –III) and Dr. B. Balamurugan (Unit –IV) are acting as a Programme Officers of our NSS Units.
The main objectives of National Service Scheme are:
To achieve the objectives of the NSS, our volunteers are actively participating in various activities such as Environmental, Health and Education awareness, Awareness on Voting Rights, AIDS, Blood and Eye Donation, Road Safety, Conservation of Electricity, Socio-economic Survey and Self Employment Awareness.
Our NSS volunteers are actively participating in campus cleaning work periodically throughout the academic year. They also involve themselves as a volunteer in regular academic activities such as fresher’s counseling and assists the faculties during admission, conduct of meetings and functions. Our NSS units selected Navalur, NavalurKuttappattu, MelaPaganur and Vannankoil villages are their adopted villages for the past three years and carried out many camp activities like tree plantation programmes, various public awareness programmes, medical and veterinary camps.
